A modern design is a defined design style. You should check your local judging rules to get the correct definition for the Shows you will enter. Here it means that the design should have strong clear lines with a minimum of plant material.
Here as the container I have used a banksia cone which has been turned at the top to form an aperture for either a candle or dried plant material. The line in this design is made with pieces of straight bark and a single fresh banksia flower and foliage is placed in the top opening of the container.
Judging feedback: An excellent example of a basic modern design. Simple placement, strong visual lines and rhythm with the use of the fresh banksia in a cone container makes it an obvious winner.
