After many requests, I made a video looking at what is generally termed “naturalistic’ design. In simple terms it means looking at the plant material you have, designing to showcase its natural features.

In competition, however, there will be a specific definition of “naturalistic” design which generally also means that you should have plant material that would be expected to grow in the same environment e.g. if you are using orchids or tropical flowers, you should have matching tropical foliage and other plant material; if you are using roses there should be other plant material (foliage etc) that would be seen where roses grow.
